Green Roots, Greener Future: ERL and UPM Plant 100 Avocado Trees

25 June 2025 – As part of its ongoing sustainability journey, ERL collaborated with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) to plant 100 avocado trees at Ladang Bersepadu Puchong, Pusat Pertanian Putra, UPM under the “Green Roots, Greener Future” initiative.

The programme brought together 20 ERL employees for a hands-on planting experience, supported by agricultural experts from UPM. Participants took part in technical briefings, planting demonstrations and knowledge-sharing sessions, gaining valuable insights into sustainable agricultural practices and the potential of avocado cultivation in Malaysia.

Beyond tree planting, the initiative highlighted the importance of supporting local agriculture and encouraging greater awareness of sustainable food production. Through the collaboration, participants were introduced to the potential of locally grown avocados as an alternative to imported produce, while learning about opportunities for agricultural development in Malaysia. The programme also builds on ERL’s ongoing partnership with UPM, following the launch of GoGreen Ekspres and Projek Hijau Hopea Odorata in October 2024. This continued collaboration reflects a shared commitment to promoting environmental awareness, knowledge exchange and community participation in sustainability initiatives.
